through strategic, effective marketing communications
I'm Tobi Day-Hamilton. I've been telling stories in one way or another for as long as I can remember. Now I help organizations tell their stories to engage and inspire.
I began my career in advertising working with brands like FedEx, Sprint, and SunLife. After over a decade in the advertising game, I moved to the University of Waterloo where I led strategic initiatives like the development of the new Stratford campus and the communications portfolio for the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC).
Crafting stories for increased engagement is where I shine. Whether its talking about quantum technologies, digital media, advanced technologies, education or community issues, I work to find the narrative that resonates with the people you want to reach.
My passion is community building. I am the Co-founder of LAUNCH Waterloo, a social enterprise transforming Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) programming for children and youth. I am also a member of the Board of Governors of the Grand River Hospital Foundation, a Board Member with the Canadian Association of Science Centres, and a Regional Co-chair with the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference.
I have a Master’s of Communications Management from McMaster University and a Bachelors in Rhetoric and Professional Writing from the University of Waterloo. I am a self-proclaimed geek, early adopter of technology, a Mount Everest trekker, and seek out adventure at every turn!
Why Joey?
Joey started as a nickname. I really don't remember how or when. Was it a Friends influence? A kangaroo? Who knows. It just was and now it's stuck.
